The Migrant Quilt Project includes all the names of people
who perished along the US/Mexico border. In recognizing the thousands of people
who died because of inhumane policies like Operation Gatekeeper, Operation Hold
the Line and Operation Safeguard,
raises awareness and questions regarding the efficacy
of such policies. |
By driving migrants into remote regions where there is
no water, food or medical care, many succumb to extreme heat or cold exposure, dehydration
and/or heat stroke.

Quilt Instructions |
|
|
Please complete the square by attaching the label and
decorating it with dignity with the name of person who perished. Many people are
unidentified, so to honor those we ask you to put the name Desconocido (unknown). |
|
If you want to purchase many squares or could commission
a larger piece that contains many names in a specific region, please contact us
directly at info@losdesconocidos.org |
|
Please contact us, too, if you know a family member or
a friend who died while migrating, and we will work with you to provide the name
of that individual.
|
|
*We will return all squares that do not have our label on them. In order to claim
the quilt was made from recycled migrant clothing, we want to ensure authenticity
through our database, recycling project and logo process. Sorry. |
